Information for New Developments

Procedures-

1. Submit letter of "Request for Water Service" to the water district. Provide brief description of the location, number of lots to be served, phased construction plans, type of development (residential, single-family/multi-family, commercial, industrial), needed water flow requirements and all helpful information.

2. The water districts Board of Directors will consider the "Request for Water Service" at the next Board of Directors meeting. A written response will be provided to the developer after the Board of Directors has considered the request.

3. If approved by the Board of Directors, the developer or agent must submit three (3) copies of the final approved plat (must be signed by the governing authority and registered at the county courthouse) along with a digital copy (cd or 3-1/2" disc) of the plat in an AutoCad format. A water main extension petition shall be completed and the appropriate fee shall be submitted prior to any engineering work beginning.

4. The water districts engineer will complete design of the water mains, valving and fire hydrants. Design of the water system may take 60-90 days. The water district and the engineer will approve plans.

5. A preliminary report will be provided to the developer or agent, outlining probable construction costs.

6. Prior to the scheduling of the actual construction of the water system, the developer or agent must submit a water main extension agreement and the total sum of the probable construction estimates to the water district.

7. The water districts contractor according to water districts specifications will complete construction of the water system. Water district personnel and/or engineer if deemed necessary will conduct inspections.
.

8. Accounting will be conducted by water district personnel to determine the final project cost. A final report will be submitted to the developer or agent outlining the final project costs and appropriate adjustments to the project estimate will be conducted according to water district  policy.

Requirements

1. Water Main Extensions-
New developments are required to connect to an existing water main designated by the water district and/or our engineer. This is to ensure that adequate volume and pressure are provided to the development. The cost of extending or upgrading an existing water main shall be the responsibility of the developer.

2. Design of water mains-
The water districts engineer along with input from the water district will design the water system. The water district reserves the right to require upsizing of water mains for future use.

3. Construction of the water system-
The water districts contractor will complete the construction of the water system within the development and any needed upgrades to existing mains.

4. Site requirements-
Prior to construction of the water system, a final grade of the proposed water main location must be completed within 6 inches of the proposed grade. All construction equipment and debris must be moved from the area prior to beginning the construction of the water main. All curbs must be staked indicating their proposed location. If requested, street crossings (encasements) will be installed prior to the laying of the curbs and street surface.

5. Easements-
The water district will require easements for the proposed development. These easements need to be indicated on the final approved plat submitted to the water district.
